Uzazi Village Doula Coop

Affordable Doula Care for Our Community

At Uzazi Village our goal is to decrease black infant mortality and racially-based perinatal health inequities through the promotion of:

Physiologic Birth
Lowering the rates of unnecessary cesarean births by discouraging routine inductions and the “cascade of interventions “.
Breastfeeding
Fostering models of breast feeding support that are culturally appropriate and specific.
Perinatal Doulas
Utilizing specially trained doulas to work  with mamas most at risk  for disrupted/disfunctional labors. Ensuring that those who stand to benefit the most from doula support actually have access to them.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultants
Ensuring access to community-based lactation care and support.
Childbirth Education
Teaching models that respect adult ways of learning and celebrate informed decision making and autonomy.
Midwifery Care
Expanding access to options not previously accessed in communities of color.
Culturally Congruent Care
Raising awareness of perinatal inequities  in the African-American community. Expanding access to options not previously accessed in communities of color.
